Our Center has started to perform DNA test for ACTN3, which is used in evaluating the spore performance. In this study, the R577X mutation within ACTN3 gene is examined.
ACTN3 Genotype-Phenotype Relation
- Normal (CC): During the studies performed, it’s been displayed that the people without R577X variation are advantageous for body building, walking, judo, short distance swimming and cycling sports, while they are disadvantageous for sports requiring stamina.
- Homozygote mutation (TT): It’s been observed that the people with genetic mutation in both copies of ACTN3 gene after the studies have more advantageous muscle structure for marathon, triathlon and long distance swimming and cycling sports requiring stamina.
- Heterozygote mutation (CT): The people with genetic mutation in one copy of ACTN3 gene attract attention with their tendency to all kinds of sports.
